In the ‘hood

Today we left Jerusalem early in the morning and headed south by southwest, to where Samsom mixed things up with the Philistines,

and where David fought Goliath!

And there are lots and lots AND Lots of ruins, stones, digs, some going back 3,000 years and more, but for me it is special just being in the neighborhood.  David walked here! Or Abraham, or Joshua, or Paul, and of course Jesus.  A reminder that it really happened.  And it happened right here.  It grounds your faith, and encourages you to ACT like it was real.

And of course there are lots of stairs and lots of walking.  My calves are barking at me but the weather has been beautiful.

And wouldn’t you know that Johnny Manziel was on our tour!!

Kidding.

Church tomorrow at St George’s Cathedral, lunch at the American Colony Hotel (look it up on Wikipedia), and then off to meet with Kids4Peace Jerusalem!

Thanks for checking in!

  1. Hi Bob,

Great to see you so inspired and enjoying Jerusalem. Thanks be to God for the gift of the incarnation and for our blessed confidence that we can share with St. John in affirming: 1  That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon and touched with our hands, concerning the word of life—2 the life was made manifest, and we saw it, and testify to it, and proclaim to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was made manifest to us—3 that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you may have fellowship† with us; and our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And we are writing this that our joy may be complete.

May you share ever more fully in that glorious fellowship.

    Jonathan

  2. Wow! You’re walking where Jesus walked! That difficult to comprehend. We glad that you’re able to experience this. Wishing we were there with you, Mom, Paul, Perl & Elisha
